If you are a nurse then you have more opportunities for a good steady income than if you were a non-skilled worker. LPNs are subject for getting more pre-screened credit card offers in the mail because of this. A RN who makes an even better income will get them also but with the increased income and more job security you may not be more apt to be late or pay the minimum payment. LPNs are constantly in the credit card company’s sites as potential high earners for their company because paying the minimum payment and being just a day late will rack up the interest rate and they can tack on fees and penalties that would make you sick to your stomach if you realized what was going on.

If you would like to fight back a little bit about this injustice then I would like to give you a number to get your name removed from the credit card mailing lists. This is called “Opting out” from receiving offers from the credit card companies. The number is 1-888-567-8688 or 1 888 5OPTOUT. This number will take your information and notify all 4 of the credit reporting agencies. It may take a few months to stop getting these offers but this one call will be good for 5 years. Now you will not have to worry if the apartment that you used to live in is sending the new residents your credit card offers. This is one more step in stopping identity theft and the temptation for getting tangled in the evil web of credit card debt. Remember, as a LPN you already have a bulls eye on your back. Your nursing income is just enough to make a comfortable home for you and your loved ones. Don’t let credit card companies steal that little bit of income away from you and your family.

I have enclosed some interesting videos just because I want to get the word out to nurses.

Must see documentary by James Scurlock who’s message was inspired by “fast food nation”

There are so many scams out there you really need to be careful. Many people expect to get scammed when seeking adult content or information on casinos or get rich quick scams but you let your guard down when you are seeking things on the Internet that seem very plain and professional. Here is the top scam people have problems with when seeking an LPN to RN program.

Book Scams- They lead you on and have you think they are a college and then you find out the 1,000 to 2,000 you are spending is just in buying their nursing books. After you have spent all that money they direct you to excelsior or some other correspondence college that has nothing to do with them. I was sucked into that scam and I came right out and said. “are you affiliated with a college?” “are you just selling books or are you the actual college?” I know it sounds so far fetched but this has happened to intelligent nurses and paramedics in the field looking for programs. The truth is that you just find your program and then get the list of books you need then you can order them from regular book companies, amazon, eBay or even Craigslist for hundreds of dollars less.
